Heartbreaking and moving, President Zelensky is an amazing speaker and author。 I joked with my Ukrainian friend when he was elected, but I joke no more。

This book comprises samples of Volodymyr Zelensky’s speeches from the first six months of the war against Ukraine。 Even tho’ of course I’m very aware of the Ukrainian crisis, as we all are, I found it an eye opener and an appreciated historical re-visit。 I’m ever more grateful to live in the peaceful country I live in and now have a much bigger respect for the courage of Ukrainians。 It’s a very easy read despite the serious subject and I found it very moving。 Just so crazy that this war is happe This book comprises samples of Volodymyr Zelensky’s speeches from the first six months of the war against Ukraine。 Even tho’ of course I’m very aware of the Ukrainian crisis, as we all are, I found it an eye opener and an appreciated historical re-visit。 I’m ever more grateful to live in the peaceful country I live in and now have a much bigger respect for the courage of Ukrainians。 It’s a very easy read despite the serious subject and I found it very moving。 Just so crazy that this war is happening in this day and age 🥲 Highly recommended 。。。more

Anyone who gives this less than 5 stars is a putin pickme groupie who can piss off to moscow。The thing is, I'm not giving this 5 stars just because I love and admire Ukraine (and have ancestors from there) and because I love and admire Zelenskyy。 Those things are all very true。 But this is also the strongest example of what political speeches can be, can do, can achieve。 He is honestly the best political public speaker I've ever seen, whether historical or in my own lifetime。 (And it should be n Anyone who gives this less than 5 stars is a putin pickme groupie who can piss off to moscow。The thing is, I'm not giving this 5 stars just because I love and admire Ukraine (and have ancestors from there) and because I love and admire Zelenskyy。 Those things are all very true。 But this is also the strongest example of what political speeches can be, can do, can achieve。 He is honestly the best political public speaker I've ever seen, whether historical or in my own lifetime。 (And it should be noted that he writes most of his own speeches。) People still want to talk about him as "a former comedian" as though he isn't also and always a brilliant and incisive patriot。 His wordcraft is stunning, and the way he tailors each address to a particular audience, a particular mood, a particular need is just incredible。 There has never been a more impressive world leader, and I don't know how anyone in Ukraine could even hope to fill his shoes once he leaves office。The speeches collected in here start with his inaugural address in 2019 and end with his address on Ukrainian Independence Day, August 24, last year。 As you read through them, you see the progression of both the nation and the man, and you really get a strong feel for his keen intelligence and stentorian forward-looking voice, as well as the awe-inspiring power and boldness of all Ukrainians。 My prayer today on the first anniversary of the full-scale invasion is that there will not be a second one, because for weeks or months before February 24, 2024, we will have been celebrating Ukraine's complete and total victory, while the russian orcs slither back to their caves in their desolate homeland run by a pathetic sociopath who wouldn't know intellect and empathy and bravery if they smacked him in the face。。。which I really wish they would。An absolutely wonderful collection of words from an absolutely wonderful man about an absolutely wonderful nation。 Слава Україні 🇺🇦✊🏻 Героям слава ✊🏻🇺🇦 Разом до перемоги! 。。。more

I read this to use as a text for my AP Lang class。 Several excellent examples of powerful, moving speeches full of all of the necessary elements for a great argument。 Further, contemporary arguments necessary for study。 Highly recommend。

The president of Ukraine has an excellent speech writer (or writes well himself)。 He knows his audience and tailors his examples and words to make them more impactful。 I can see why Times magazine named him person of the year。

When Germany invaded Poland it started WW2。 When Russia attacked, attempting to invade Ukraine, it started…… A long and deadly war between Russia and Ukraine。 From day 1 of this war, I keep asking my politically aware fiancée: why is this different? Why aren’t we all at war? Why aren’t there boots on the ground helping them, this could be easy if we all took a few months to band together and push back, why don’t we?He says because we can’t。 Because Russia has Nuclear weapons, we can’t go to war When Germany invaded Poland it started WW2。 When Russia attacked, attempting to invade Ukraine, it started…… A long and deadly war between Russia and Ukraine。 From day 1 of this war, I keep asking my politically aware fiancée: why is this different? Why aren’t we all at war? Why aren’t there boots on the ground helping them, this could be easy if we all took a few months to band together and push back, why don’t we?He says because we can’t。 Because Russia has Nuclear weapons, we can’t go to war with them。 What are they supposed to do if nukes come into the picture, he asks? I have no argument against this。 He is right, we can’t go to war Russia。 The war must remain…。 Cold。 But that enrages me。 It hurts my heart when atrocities like this happen in Asia, the Middle East, or in Africa。 They happen and we barely get to hear about it, because the West has decided that people dying (or worse) in those places is not “our” problem。 But Ukraine is in Europe。 Ukraine has been an independent nation the entire duration of my life - I can’t see it any other way! I thought I lived in a modern world where - at the VERY least - a country formerly part of the “G8” would not be allowed to attack anyone in “the west”。 To me, Ukraine was part of “us” that I believed the world would protect, it’s that same thing I tell myself that would make the world stand up and protect my home country, Canada。 I’ve been told that my whole life。 Don’t worry Stephanie, people don’t attack Canada, but even if they did the US and Europe would not stand for it。 To me, this is the absolute bare minimum I can stomach。 To me, “we” should include the entire world。 Though, I do understand that sound somewhat naive, I do understand why that would become logistically near impossible… at this time。 But if not even Europe is safe? If parts of “we” can become “them” in a mere 24 hours of horror…。 Then none of “we” should feel safe and protected。 And I am horrified to have that childhood refrain of the world banding together against bad guys taken away。 I’m almost 30 now, so I understand that of course the world doesn’t work like that, of course it isn’t that benevolent or simple。 But damn - I wish Ukraine wasn’t having to bear the burden of proving that。 The longer this war goes on, the less safe any of “us” should feel。 I wish the world was doing more, I wish I was doing more。 We should all do more。 Glory to Ukraine 🇺🇦 。。。more

Adored every second of reading the words of this brave, inspiring leader, who speaks the truth about the battle for democracy and freedom we are bearing witness to。 I have never been more proud to be Ukrainian-Canadian as I have been over the course of this last year — and my love for my heritage grows daily more and more。 Slava Ukraini!

4/5 but it gets the extra star because of the message。During his speeches Volodymyr Zelenskyj describes Ukraine throughout history; not just from 2019-2022 (the years in which the speeches were held)。 Every speech is filled with pathos, logos and even ethos, and they show how NATO, EU, and UN have tuned out the cries for help that Ukraine has been uttering since 2019。 These speeches draw parallels to the second world war, and simultaneously makes the future look bleak and hopeful。 Being pessimis 4/5 but it gets the extra star because of the message。During his speeches Volodymyr Zelenskyj describes Ukraine throughout history; not just from 2019-2022 (the years in which the speeches were held)。 Every speech is filled with pathos, logos and even ethos, and they show how NATO, EU, and UN have tuned out the cries for help that Ukraine has been uttering since 2019。 These speeches draw parallels to the second world war, and simultaneously makes the future look bleak and hopeful。 Being pessimistic/realistic, however, I find it hard to see any acceptable solution to the ongoing war。 I hope other people, people in power, do。 。。。more

A collection of his key speeches from before and during the Russian invasion of Ukraine。 Zelensky is quite remarkable in the way he expresses his thoughts, never sinking into abject fury or garbled rhetoric (even though this might be justified when referring to the atrocities perpetrated by the Russians) and always sounding, quite simply, like ‘the adult in the room’。 Moving, heartfelt, intelligent, mature, full of integrity; the words of a true world leader。

Insightful and inspirational regardless of ones personal feelings to the war。

I, too, wish that this book would have never been published。 In a just world, it should have never been published。 But we all know our current reality。 And because this book had to have been published, it is one that I think everyone should read。This collection of speeches is heart-breaking, infuriating, and empowering。 The fact that a country is being attacked and invaded for merely existing is sickening。 Ukrainians, like any other group of people, have their own spot in the world。 They deserve I, too, wish that this book would have never been published。 In a just world, it should have never been published。 But we all know our current reality。 And because this book had to have been published, it is one that I think everyone should read。This collection of speeches is heart-breaking, infuriating, and empowering。 The fact that a country is being attacked and invaded for merely existing is sickening。 Ukrainians, like any other group of people, have their own spot in the world。 They deserve to live peacefully, like everyone else。 This should be no question。 Why are we repeating history - why has "never again!" become "again?" ?President Zelensky, thank you for compiling your speeches together。 I'm sorry that you had to in the first place。Sláva Ukrayíni 。。。more

This is mostly a collection of speeches about the war and the peoples fight for their country, selected to tell the heart of this historical period。 I only had US history in high school。 Here, I learned more about the Ukrainian efforts in World War II as well as other history in that area。 Zelensky is a strong leader, hopefully strong enough to bring peace to his people。 He united them in democracy and strength by being one of them。

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 Wow。 I read it without stop in few hours。 Most shocking thing was about his grand-dad, the only of four brothers who survived in World War 2, all family was killed by Nazis。 Zelenskiy definitely knows how to get through people’s mind and right into the heart。Recommended to everyone, who still thinks “normal russians aren’t at fault。”
